|Tamarind Villas offer a luxury living in a tropical paradise for those looking for an affordable lifestyle. Tucked away in a residential area of Nai Harn at the end of a quiet road, privacy from the neighbours is guaranteed by a high wall and gate, the access road is paved and, apart from leading to the houses in this street, goes nowhere so there is very little traffic and the whole area is a peaceful place to be.
The Desjoyaux pool is set off by a sand stone surround with sandwash for safety. It comes with a 10 year guarantee and is maintained weekly by the Desjoyaux Phuket maintenance team to ensure it’s safe to swim in and stays clean. Next to the pool is a fabric awning from Shades of Phuket supported by stainless steel posts to protect you from the bright sunshine or rain during the monsoons, also with a 10 year guarantee. The garden landscape is very tropical using Malaysian grass lawn and Palm and Foxtail trees, an Asian delight it’s enhanced with stone wall sculptures in traditional Thai styles that complement the outer walls, and ornamental outdoor lighting to show the garden off during the warm evenings.
The garage offers enough space to fit a large truck and more than one motorbike in easily. Also situated in the garden is an outdoor shower to wash off after a sandy day at the beach.
The ground floor of the house is particularly spacious with an impressive 10m x 7m combining an open plan living room, dining area and kitchen, which also comprises of a small wc and storage area contained under the stairs. The open staircase is located in the far right back corner of the groundfloor.
The 1st floor measures 8m x 7m and consists of 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a landing with reading/sitting area. The larger bedroom has its own bathroom with sea view, built in wardrobes and a large window overlooking the garden and sala. The second double bedroom is 4m x 3.5m. All fixtures and fittings have been selected carefully to fit with the stylish decor and aimed at those with a young family. Thai silk is a feature of the curtains and bed covers and adds a traditional look to the decor.
Going up to the second level the large window offers views of the Big Buddha statue sat impressively on the mountain top and leading over to the tourist areas of kata and Karon. From this landing you can either enter the master bedroom or directly to the master bedrooms 7m x 2m balcony and enjoy the spectacular views. Even the ensuite bathroom has sights to admire in Chalong Bay and Rawai Beach, as well as magnificent sights from the bedroom itself.
The bedroom is a large area at 6m x 7m with built in wardrobes and storage freeing up floor space and leaving lots of room for an office area. A king sized bed fits easily in this good sized room and when adorned with Thai silk sheets, and embellished with teak wood bedside tables and bedside lamps is a room to be admired. There is also a 42” LED flat screen TV with cable and the option of satellite and DVD’s if required.
The top level has been converted into a roof top terrace and is reached by a spiral staircase. A shower and electricity sockets have already fitted, and this is the perfect place from which to enjoy the sunset and relax with friends. From here you have the most impressive 360? views of the beautiful gardens in the area, the Big Buddha statue sat impressively on the mountain top, the scenic Cape Panwa, as many as 7 islands over Chalong Bay, and views as far as Phuket Town. A notable 7m x 6m, there is a covered Thai style sala measuring 3.5m x 3m constructed from steel with concrete tiles to withstand high winds in the rainy season.
The first Tamarind Villa constructed took 8 months from the initial design and engineer reports until the finished project was handed over to the buyer, Mr Tom Little from the UK. Started in April 2007, everything was completed and people moved in by January 2008 – the perfect time to either rent or sell your villa/apartment as visitors from all over the world are eager to visit the area on vacation at this time of year. Whilst some visitors to Phuket come just for a few weeks, others are looking for accommodation for the whole of the high season.
The construction time for the second Tamarind Villa took slightly longer due to heavy rains during the 2008 monsoon season which delayed building work. Started in January 2008 it was completed by October, and rented immediately for the duration of the high season, before being purchased in May 2009 by Mr John Flicker.
Villa 1 has had a lot of success as a holiday rental villa with an average 12% net p/a over the past 3 years. Its second owner, Mr Trevor Appleby, also rents it successfully when he isn’t here enjoying it for himself. Villa 2 was previously used as a holiday villa exclusively by the owners family and friends until recently when the owner decided to rent it out.
Originally I constructed both villas with wooden balconies, these have since been upgraded to glass for a contemporary look. Once the project is finished you would be the owner of a 12 million baht villa, family home or investment, this doesn’t take into consideration how prices of land and luxury villas are sure to rise in Phuket as the Eastern economies improve. This is a 50% minimum increase in the value of your investment in less than a year.
